Candy Jar

5" high, 9.5" long, 7.5"wide.

This candy jar is coil built or thrown and altered, then fitted with a lid. It was soda fired to 2250 degrees F. in a gas kiln. The interior is lined with food safe glaze made from wood ash. The exterior is covered with a flashing slip that reacts with the soda fire atmosphere, recording the flame’s movement in the kiln. Non-glassy textures are sanded with fine grit diamond pads post firing giving a luscious texture to the matt clay surface.
